Blackpool’s Test drive course returns for the summer

Blackpool’s ever popular “Test Drive” pre-driving course is back and better than ever this summer.

With anyone aged 16 and above welcome and no provisional licence needed, the one day courses have, for many years, helped to give new drivers the perfect start as they prepare to start learning.

The day consists of two hours in the morning discussing how to apply for your licence, preparing for the theory and hazard perception tests, and attitudes towards driving.

This is followed by three hours of practical driving with qualified driving instructors on a traffic free environment on a car park to practice controlling the vehicle, doing manoeuvres, and starting and stopping.

Cllr John Jones, Blackpool Council’s cabinet member for streets and transport, said: “These courses are a great way for young people to learn the basics of driving a vehicle so that when they start to take driving lessons they are not a complete stranger to being behind the wheel.

“I encourage anyone who is beginning their driving career to sign up for these courses, as they are very popular and do a great job in preparing our next generation of young drivers.”

The one day course costs just £25 and payments can be made over the phone.

Gift certificates are also available and are a great idea for birthdays.

Course are taking place at the QA Centre at Montgomery High School during the week beginning July 28 and the week beginning August 4.

Places are filled on a first come first served basis, book your place today by calling Blackpool Council’s Road Safety Team on (01253) 476182 or email [email protected].
