Start Up Day could help get your Manchester business moving

Budding entrepreneurs are invited to receive business advice from experts and hear their inspiring stories at Start Up Day, at Manchester Central Library.

The free event – from 9.15am to 4pm – is to be held on Friday 20 January and features a number of invited speakers, including Wayne Hemingway MBE – along with several workshops teaching a variety of useful business skills.

The day’s events and activities will help aspiring entrepreneurs transform their ideas into a successful enterprise by bringing together successful experienced entrepreneurs, speakers and teachers for a full day of inspiration and networking.

Wayne Hemingway will be among the successful speakers from the business world who will reveal their inspiring stories throughout the day. Wayne is co-founder of fashion business, Red or Dead, and also established Hemmingway Design which aims to make design sustainable and affordable.

Free workshops – open to all – include marketing your start up, protecting your intellectual property, and setting up a social enterprise. The workshops will be held throughout the day and places to those of interest can be booked online.

Representatives from the GM Business Growth Hub, People Plus, and Google Digital Garage will be on hand, offering their expert business advice, plus 3D printing demos.

Attendees will also have the chance to find about the resources on offer for start-ups in Central Library’s Business & Intellectual Property Centre.

Councillor Luthfur Rahman, Manchester City Council’s executive member for culture and leisure, said: “Start Up Day promises to offer a wealth of help, advice, and networking opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs. Whether you have a great business idea, are just starting up, or are in the process of getting your enterprise established there’ll be plenty going on to help get your business moving.”

The free event is open to all but spaces should be booked in advance at: https://manchesterbipc.eventbrite.co.uk, or email [email protected] for more information.
