Manchester School Creates 130 New Jobs

Manchester Fayre school catering services are looking to recruit around 130 new Catering Assistants across the city.

Successful applicants, who will start work in September 2014, will receive full training, a uniform and will be offered permanent part-time contracts, working either ten or 16 hours per week.

Interview days will be held as follows:-

  • Monday 30 June 2014 (Wythenshawe area)
  • Tuesday 1 July 2014 (South area)
  • Wednesday 2 July 2014 (Central area)
  • Thursday 3 July 2014 (East area)
  • Friday 4 July 2014 (North area)

Executive Member for Culture and Leisure, Councillor Rosa Battle, said: “We are aiming to recruit a new group of Catering Assistants to help us provide balanced, healthy meals for children across the city and make sure they are getting the right nutrition to help them through the day.

“These new posts offer Manchester residents employment with fair pay, starting at the Manchester Minimum Wage, plus a great opportunity to develop their skills.”

The vacancies are being created due to changes to the national rules on school dinners, which mean that from the new school year, there is funding for every child in reception, year 1 and year 2 to have a free school meal.

Pay will start at £7.20 per hour, rising to £7.65 after the completion of a competency review. The opportunity is open to applicants who are permanently resident in the City of Manchester and a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required.

To request an application pack and book yourself an interview slot, please telephone the Resourcing Team on 0161 227 3373, or email resourcing@manchester.gov.uk.

The closing date for applications is Wednesday 25 June 2014.
