Register for Blackpool iFest Illuminations Switch-On Tickets

Registration is now open for Blackpool iFest’s annual Illuminations Switch-On spectacular with even more tickets available for local residents.

Known as the biggest night in the resort’s calendar, the event takes place on Friday September 4 and will feature a host of top music stars as well as the big moment when the resort’s stunning light display is turned on for the first time for 2015.

And the best thing is, it’s free to attend – all you have to do is enter the ballot to win tickets.

People can now put their name in the hat by registering at www.visitblackpool.com/switchon for their chance to receive up to four tickets per household.

Last year, around 80,000 people applied for tickets to attend the event.

Alan Cavill, Blackpool Council’s Director of Place, said: “Switch-On night is without doubt the biggest night in Blackpool’s calendar and is unbelievably popular with more than 80,000 people applying for tickets last year.

“The event attracted some of the biggest stars in Britain last year, from Peter Kay and Little Mix to Pixie Lott and George Ezra.

“This year we will deliver yet another fantastic line-up and a stunning show to start off the Blackpool Illuminations season with a bang.

“I would urge people to apply for their wristbands now – if you’re successful it will undoubtedly be the best free night out you’ll have this year.”

With a capacity of 20,000 for Switch-On night, the event will be held on the Tower Festival Headland and attracts visitors from all over the UK as well as locals who will have a dedicated 8,000 tickets just for them, which is an increase on last year.

A further 5,000 tickets will be guaranteed for Switch-On night for people buying a weekend Blackpool iFest ticket and tickets for the Saturday and Sunday events will be on sale shortly.

A three-day festival featuring music, entertainment and, this year, comedy – Blackpool iFest will be produced in partnership with leading TV channels, including Sky Vintage music channel which will host the Saturday night event.

The festival will take place on the Tower Festival Headland on Friday 4, Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September with the Switch-On concert itself taking place on Friday.

On Saturday, the arena will be taken over by Sky Television’s Vintage TV channel hosting a concert full of chart-topping acts.

For Sunday night, the focus will turn to comedy, with the first ever comedy gig to be held on the Tower Festival Headland’s Comedy Carpet.
