Kendal Mountain Festival 20 – 23 Nov

Kendal Mountain Festival is one of the leading festivals of its kind in the world.  It is the main social event for outdoor enthusiasts in the UK and 2014 is their 15th straight year, running 20-23 November.

At the heart of Kendal’s programme is the mountain film competition, attracting film premières from around the world. Over 50 films are screened (from 200+ entries) with ten coveted prizes up for grabs. KMF is not all extreme action – films genres include culture, drama, wildlife and environmental documentaries, plus a huge lecture programme. Other highlights include art exhibitions, literature events, including the coveted Boardman Tasker Prize for Mountain Literature and the highly respected ‘Adventure Film Academy’ for aspiring film-makers.

Together with the photography events, numerous competitions, specialist sports nights (Bike, Snowsports, Free-Flight, Underground and Endurance Sports) and the KMF for Schools programme, KMF is the ‘must do’ mountain festival.

Extra expenditure into the local economy generated by the Kendal Mountain Festival has been independently calculated to be in excess of £1.9m. We are a Community Interest Company, where any surpluses are put right back into festival activities.

The Festival has even been cited by the Sunday Times as one of the reasons young people are attracted to Kendal as a place to live!

Our vision is to inspire more people to explore, enjoy and represent mountains, wilderness and their cultures.

The 2014 Kendal Mountain Festival will be held 20 – 23 of November 2014
