The deadline to give people a chance to nominate inspiring children and young people from Lancashire to receive a recognition award has been extended.

PROUD will recognise young people’s achievements and contributions, both in their own lives, and when helping others.

Nominations opened on Monday 2 November and will now close at 11.59pm on Friday 11 December. People can nominate online at the PROUD awards webpage – www.lancashirechildrenstrust.org.uk

Young people can be nominated individually or in groups in the following five award categories:

• Positive choices and achievements
• Responding to the needs of others
• Outstanding service to the community
• Unique talent
• Danny Collins inspiration award

County Councillor Matthew Tomlinson, cabinet member for children, young people and schools, said: “I’m pleased that we’ve extended the deadline.

“We’ve had many nominations so far, but we think that this is important and we want to make sure that everyone gets the chance.

“If you know a child or young person who you think deserves special recognition, this is your chance to nominate them for an award.

“Whatever the achievement, whether it’s caring for someone, helping out in the community, overcoming personal hardship, volunteering or showing a sporting or artistic talent, please make sure you tell us about it.”

Everyone who is nominated will receive a congratulatory letter and a certificate of recognition.
