It is the 175th anniversary of the Cunard Line, and May 2015 will see Cunard return to its spiritual home in Liverpool to celebrate. Cunard’s three Queens – Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria.
They will meet on the famous Liverpool waterfront in a spectacular one-off event that will draw tens of thousands of people to the banks of the Mersey.
Then on 4th July, Queen Mary 2 will return to the cruise terminal to recreate the voyage of the first Cunard ship, Britannia, from Liverpool to Boston and New York. We will be celebrating the anniversary – and Liverpool’s historic links with the US – with a mini-festival curated by Wayne Hemingway.
But it’s not just these two dates – between the two Cunard events, there will be a six-week programme of activity centred around the waterfront. This includes the ever-popular Mersey River Festival and the Rock and Roll Marathon.
Whether you’re looking to find out all about our sea-faring summer, book your berth at one of the city’s top hotels, or see what you can do whilst ashore, VisitLiverpool.com can navigate the way.
