Shoppers will be given the chance to win prizes by answering questions about what they recycle at a series of events.
Manchester City Council will be visiting supermarkets and shopping centres across the city next week to ask people which items they do and don’t recycle, whether they believe they recycle everything they can do, and what incentives would encourage them to recycle even more.
Anyone who completes one of the surveys will win the chance to win a £20 shopping voucher.
The team will be at Asda Harpurhey on Wednesday July 15, Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester city centre on Monday July 20, Asda Hulme on Tuesday July 21 and Asda Eastlands on Wednesday July 22, from 11am-3pm on each day.
Councillor Nigel Murphy, Manchester City Council’s executive member for neighbourhoods, said: “We have introduced a range of new recycling services over the last few years which Manchester residents have taken to hand. The amount that we send to landfill as a city has dropped significantly, and I’d like to thank residents for all the efforts they’ve made.
“However, we can always do more – as money wasted by not recycling means less resources on other important services that people need – and events like this really help us understand what residents think about recycling and what we can do differently.”
