Summer holiday adventures at Lancaster Castle

A series of interesting activities is available for children, young people and adults alike to enjoy at Lancaster Castle over the summer holiday.

Events include activity tours with costumed guides around the castle, including a mock trial, helping Roman soldiers build a section of Hadrian’s Wall, and a Roman drill parade.

Other activities include discovering what life was like for a World War One officer, and a tour giving an insight into the world of highway robbers, thieves, gentleman debtors and the Lancashire Witches.

Various other tours, workshops and a murder mystery evening are also available.

Colin Penny, Lancashire County Council’s manager at Lancaster Castle, said: “We’ve got so many enjoyable, educational and different activities throughout the holidays.

“Many of the activities are suitable for all ages. Children can certainly learn through taking part and we’ve also got events that adult visitors would enjoy.

“There’s something for everyone, whatever the weather.”
